The Men I Have in Mind

John muses about the men he has in mind when writing sexy stories.

Since I first started self-publishing, I’ve gotten asked many times over the course of most of my books, just who I had in mind while I was writing my stories. Whether Buck Masterson from the Masterson Men, Duke from the Home Invasion series, or Adam Paul from Confessions of a Bad Boy, a lot of folks want to know who I had in mind for the characters.

When I first started writing, I would use pictures of various porn stars and models and have the pictures up on my monitor while I wrote a new story. It helped me think about all the things I would want to do to that person’s body provided the opportunity, and how the model would feel against the body of the other character. I don’t use this method anymore. Not sure why, actually. I just stopped somewhere along the way.

When I wrote A Night in the Drunk Tank with Dad, I remember specifically having Landon Conrad in mind as the dad in that story. For me, he looked like such a perfect daddy. Incredible body, clean cut face, and a beautiful dick. If I wasn’t thinking about Landon for one of my daddies, I imagined Tom Chase. Specifically, when he was in the third stage of his porn career. Remember when he came out of retirement and did work for Colt? He had let his body hair grow out and was just a mass of hunky daddy muscle. As so many of my readers know—those who have followed me for years—I’ve always had it bad for Mr. Chase. His work had such an impact on me, and I sought out every movie he was in (back in the days when I had a physical porn stash). If you love cum eating, he does a lot of it in Chasers. Fuck, he is hot as hell in that movie.

Another man I’ve had in mind while writing was the late, great Arpad Miklos. He was so big and hunky, and he fucked like his hips would never give up. I think he and Tom are the two daddies I have consistently had in mind while I’m writing daddy characters. If you read My Daddy Valentine, there’s a scene where the main character get his first blowjob from his girlfriend’s dad, I recall having Arpad in mind as the dirty daddy with the one track mind.

These days, if I’m jerking off to a fantasy I haven’t yet gotten down on the page, I often think of either Cain Marko or Rogan Richards. Oof. Either of those men would make the perfect porn daddy. Cain has done so for Carnal Studios, right? Rogan, on the other hand, is sorely lacking in father/son content (except in my head). Such a shame because he is such a filthy, aggressive top. I’d love to see him as a blue-collar dad, coming home in a bad mood and taking it out on his twunk son’s asshole.

I’ve mentioned in other places, like my old Family Fun Times Tumblr page, that I based the character from The Masterson Men on a quartet of blond porn stars from the late 90s and early 2000s. I used to collect pictures and gifs featuring daddy Chase Hunter with the likes of Lane Fuller, Tommy Brandt, and Trent Atkins. The four of them served as the inspirations of father, Buck Masterson, and his three sons, Rod, Chase, and Austin. The book is about a philandering father whose wife learns that he’s been cheating on her with other men. Quite prolifically. She also finds a journal filled with his fantasies about fucking his three sons. There was something about big-dicked Chase Hunter that gave me the sense he’d be a wild and raunchy dad.

If you’re wondering why I don’t go into slavish detail about my characters features, it’s because I hope readers choose someone else in place of who I had in mind. For me, that’s the fun part about reading, whether its erotica or non-erotica. If the author stays light on the description, then we get to insert our own thirsty fantasy man into the role. The next time you read one of my books, and I only describe a man as a blond forty year old with muscles, then please see fit to imagine Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Alexander Skarsgård, or whoever you like in the role. I’m leaving it up to you!

Happy Reading,

John
